Perry Carpenter is a multi-award-winning author, podcaster, and speaker, with over two decades in cybersecurity focusing on how cybercriminals exploit human behavior.

His study of mentalism, psychological manipulation, and the deceptive arts gives audiences a rare inside view of how attention and judgment can be influenced.

As Chief Deception Strategist at KnowBe4 and the author of multiple books for Wiley, he has spent decades mapping the exact points where human judgment fails. He has taken that work to Black Hat and to stages worldwide, and hosts several of the field's most respected shows on deception and human risk.

Perry's contributions to the field are widely recognized. His first book, Transformational Security Awareness, was inducted into the Cybersecurity Canon Hall of Fame.

His second book, The Security Culture Playbook, exposes the gaps between how organizations have traditionally approached human risk, providing security and business executives with tools needed to understand, measure, and improve facets of security culture across the organization.

In his latest book, FAIK: A Practical Guide to Living in a World of Deepfakes, Disinformation, and AI-Generated Deceptions, Perry tackles the fascinating and often daunting world of artificial intelligence. Through engaging storytelling and practical advice, he demystifies complex concepts, making them accessible to a general audience while providing actionable strategies for protecting oneself in the digital age.

When it comes to security awareness training, too many firms think that all they need to do is show their staff a boring PowerPoint and that they’ll somehow get the message. In the book, Carpenter pretty much throws out all of the old-school methods for security awareness and suggests much better methods to get the message across.
